A household care budget: regular costs and one-off changes

Use real bills and written quotes to understand the household’s costs. Keep recurring help separate from a one-off repair, and leave unconfirmed funding clearly marked.

Regular:Price, frequency, period;One-off:Purchase, installation, delivery;Unconfirmed:Quotes or funding still to verify;Actual:Bill and reason for any difference

Start with the actual arrangement

List the services your parent wants and that your family can realistically arrange: household help, transport, deliveries, maintenance, or other agreed support. Use local written quotes and recent bills. A national average cannot tell you what this household will pay, and a budget does not decide whether a service is appropriate for a medical need.

Separate the time periods

Record the price per visit or unit and how often you expect to use it, then put comparable costs into the same period. Keep the original unit beside the calculation so someone can check it. Record uncertain frequency as an estimate. One-off installation or equipment costs belong in a separate section rather than disappearing into a monthly total.

List the help you want to use.;Write regular costs separately.;Keep one-off purchases on another line.;Ask before agreeing to extra spending.
A short version to read together

Show what is included and what is unknown

Check travel, supplies, cancellation, minimum booking, and periodic maintenance charges. Record whether a family contribution is agreed or only discussed. Ask the responsible office or insurer about current eligibility and coverage; do not subtract an unconfirmed reimbursement. Avoid entering account numbers, income evidence, or identity documents in this worksheet.

Revisit after a real change

Compare the next bill with the quote and record the reason for a difference. Revisit the budget when the frequency, service, or household arrangement changes. Discuss who may approve additional spending and where receipts are kept. Seek appropriate financial, legal, or insurance advice for professional decisions; this is a household record, not a funding recommendation.

Use the worksheet for one real situation

Open the matching sheet below. Review the preparation checklist, then write the information your family needs in the labeled fields. Leave unknown details blank and record who can clarify them.

Regular

Price, frequency, period

One-off

Purchase, installation, delivery

Unconfirmed

Quotes or funding still to verify

Actual

Print a blank copy to write by hand, or fill it in on this page before printing. Give the completed copy only to people your parent has agreed may see it. The checklist records preparation; it does not score safety or verify a medical decision.

Common questions

Does this calculate benefit eligibility?

No. Ask the responsible local office or insurer about eligibility and covered costs.

Should family help be listed as free?

Record the time or expense involved if useful, but agree any payment rather than assuming it.

Can I compare two services directly?

First put the scope, units, frequency, and extras on the same basis.
